How to Exclude Items from Being Scored in Sirius Online

While teachers are not able to customize activities within a Sirius Online course, they can mark questions within an assignment to be excluded from the score and reports. Here’s how:

  1. Assign the activity. Then navigate to the Assignments tab.
  2. In the Assignments tab, search for the assignment you would like to edit. Click Score on the activity card.

  1. Click the Details tab.

  1. Hovering over each number in the top row of the Details table reveals a pop-up window with a preview of that item. Find the item(s) you’d like to exclude from scoring and click the checkbox next to Exclude this item from score in the pop-up window.
Notes
This procedure will exclude the item from being scored for all students.

  1. To exclude an item for an individual student or students only, hover over the item in each student’s row and click the checkbox next to Exclude this item from score in the pop-up window.

By following the steps above, the selected item(s) will not be included in student scores or in reports.

NotesWhile excluding items prevents them from being scored and reported, students will still see the items in their assignment.

Idea
You can use the Student Instructions field of the assignment builder to let students know which questions they can skip or will not count in their final score.

Idea
These steps can be followed to exclude an item from scoring in an assignment that has been completed as well.
